What’s included in the asking price?

When buying a business it is truly important to find out what is actually for sale and how the company has been valued. What assets are you purchasing? Typically you can ask for a listing of the assets involved and request an estimate of their value.   Be sure to ask for additional details if anything is unclear. Also it’s imperative to be sure to find out if the assets listed are free and clear of debts.  Also be sure to understand what intangible assets have been listed, such as goodwill, e.g. their reputation and their established customer base.
